Board of Directors 2009-2010 GAWL Foundation

The GAWL Foundation

The GAWL Foundation was organized to generally carry on, conduct, promote, operate, and undertake any transaction or operation exclusively for charitable or educational purposes.  By creating the separate non-profit organization, GAWL’s goal was to expand the role of the former scholarship fund.  In addition to awarding scholarships to deserving women law students, it now spearheads all community service projects on behalf of GAWL by focusing on those in need in the community and working with other charitable organizations to sponsor events, donate funds, and encourage GAWL members to volunteer their time.

GAWL serves as the umbrella organization, while the GAWL Foundation is an arm of GAWL, structured so that the Foundation could facilitate the charitable and educational activities of GAWL.  All members of GAWL can be active in the Foundation, and the Foundation's Board must be members of GAWL.  GAWL must approve the Foundation’s board members and any change in the Foundation’s bylaws.
